Kyle and Aubrey's relationship began when the two found themselves in the same circle of friends in the fall of 2022 at John Brown University. According to Kyle, he had been crushing on Aubrey ever since he started his freshman year. Their friendship quickly evolved as they spent time studying in the same coffee shops, cheering each other on at their soccer games, and sitting together at church.

Looking back at that time, Kyle says he was attracted to Aubrey's quirky, bubbly character, and loved that she was always giggling. Aubrey says that she thought Kyle was "absolutely hilarious," and appreciated how intentional he was in their conversations, always seeming to remember the little details of her life that she'd share. The two of them agree that being around and interacting with each other just felt easy and natural, like it was meant to be.

In the midst of a busy semester, they decided to take things slow. With Aubrey being a senior and Kyle a sophomore, they knew long-distance was in their future if they chose to begin a relationship. In the end, they knew they cared for each other deeply, and felt that the distance would be worth it when the time came. After a couple double dates, they went on their first solo date on November 12, 2022. Kyle asked Aubrey to be his girlfriend when they returned to campus from Thanksgiving break, on November 27, 2022. Now they are getting married!
